Also during the night, the cast and filmmakers paid tribute to co-star Anton Yelchin who died last month. J.J Abrams asked everyone to join in for a moment of silence, to remember the young actor.
Just recently, J.J Abrams, producer of Beyond, confirmed that Yelchin’s character, Chekov, would not be recast. “I would say there’s no replacing him,” Abrams said. “There’s no re-casting. I can’t possibly imagine that, and I think Anton deserves better.”
It has been said that they have begun looking at how to let go of the character in the next film, which has already been confirmed, aswell as confirmed to include the return of George Kirk, played by Chris Hemsworth.
