    Star Wars: Episode VIII Announces Cast

    Earlier today, Disney and Lucasfilm announced the new cast for Star Wars: Episode VIII.

    Oscar-winner Benicio Del Toro is confirmed to join the popular franchise. He is reportedly playing someone who leans toward the dark side.  Jurassic Park star Laura Dern is also joining Star Wars, although, there isn’t any information about her character. Del Toro and Dern are joined by Kelly Marie Tran, who has had small roles on Comedy Bang! Bang! and Jimmy Kimmel Live. 

    The cast of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens will also return for the next installment. Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong’o among others will all resume their roles in the new film.

    Star Wars: Episode VIII is being written and directed by Rian Johnson.  The movie is executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin and Tom Karnowski. It will also be produced by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, and Ram Bergman. Several crew members, like VP post production Pippa Anderson and costume designer Michael Kaplan, will also be returning. The crew is also joined by editor Bob Ducsay and cinematographer Steve Yedlin.

    Star Wars: Episode VIII is set to be released in cinemas December 15, 2017.
