R&B artist Stephan, aka Stephan Mosiyai Chin, recently released his new single, “Curious,” following on the heels of “Rock Your Body.”
Born to Jamaican parents in Brooklyn, New York, at a young age Stephan’s family moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he grew up listening to Chris Brown and Usher, which spared his interest in music. He began writing songs, but it wasn’t until his late teens that he seriously started pursuing his passion.
After a promising major label deal fell through, he stepped back from music. Fortunately, he met producer “Steady,” CEO/Founder of Steady Muzik. With his newfound confidence, they cultivated a musical relationship allowing him to hone and develop his skills as an artist. He eventually became the first signee under the Steady Muzik label.
Opening on shimmering guitars, “Curious” flows into a delicious R&B melody flavored with hints of pop. A fat, pulsing bassline imbues the rhythm with rounded tones atop crisp percussion. Stephan’s creamy vocals infuse the lyrics with warm, quixotic savors, highlighted by catchy hooks.
A gleaming breakdown filled with Stephan’s lush voice shifts the harmonics and then mousses back up to plush, sumptuous washes of seductive R&B.
