With the release of her latest single ‘Invited’, Los Angeles-based singer Stephanie Poetri continues to use her songwriting talents as a way to share relatable life experiences with her audience.
Serving as the follow up to ‘Astrologically Illogical’, the acutely self-aware track is described as being an “honest examination of ego, and the need for inclusion”, that’s lyrically inspired by the yearning to be invited to the party, while knowing you have no desire to attend.
Having garnered praise in the past for her delicately, soft and ethereal sound, the song sees Poetri continue to explore and experiment with a bolder, edgier sonic palette, inspired by her childhood love of indie rock.
Explaining the slight change in musical direction and tone, Stephanie says: “There weren’t a lot of female artists in that world back then. So I see myself wanting to fulfill that position, and make songs that have a little bit of edge. I want to put some more femininity into indie rock.”

Introducing… Stephanie Poetri
Raised in Indonesia by musical parents (Poetri’s father was a trombonist and marching band instructor, her mother a pop star) the Stephanie found inspiration in Kygo’s tropical house, and K-pop melodies.
Whilst admittedly her initial dream was to become a tropical house producer, after falling madly in with with all things K-pop, the ‘No Explanations’ singer decided to take up songwriting. In the middle of her very first producing class, Poetri started releasing songs for fun, the second being her 2019 viral hit, ‘I Love You 3000’ – which has achieved over 365 million streams to date, including 156 million views on the DIY video she and her sister made to accompany it, and remix version ‘Love You 3000 II’ featuring Jackson Wang.
