The five remaining couples gave it their all in an attempt to gain themselves a place in the Strictly grand final. This week two dances were performed and the scores were combined to determine the leader board positions.
In the top spot of this weeks leader board we saw Kellie Bright and Kevin Clifton – they scored the highest scores for both of their dances. Their first dance was a Rumba to Songbird – this scored an incredible 34 points, it was highly praised by all the judges.
Their second dance was an American Smooth to Let’s Face The Music And Dance. Darcey commented ‘That was heaven’, this dance gained them an incredible 39 points. At the end of the both dances they had a total of 73 which flew them to the top!
Joint second place on the leader board this week was Jay McGuiness and Aliona Vilani along with Georgia May Foote and Giovanni Pernice.
Jay and Aliona’s first dance of the night was a Viennese Waltz to Have You Ever Really loved A Woman, this gained them a solid 34 points the same as Kellie and Kevin. Their second dance was a Charleston to Dr. Jazz, it was Doctor Who themed and he was branded as being ‘Timelord of the dance’, this awarded them a great score of 37 judges. Both combined gave them a total of 71!
Georgia and Giovanni’s first dance of the night was a lively Cha Cha to I Will Survive, this scored an incredible 33 from the judges! Their second dance was an entrancing Viennese Waltz to Runaway, this was also loved by the judges – it scored them an amazing 38 – their total score also being 71.
Third place this week was given to Anita Rani and Gleb Savchenko – Their first dance was an incredible Foxtrot to the song New York, New York, it was given an impressive score of 32. Their second dance which was a very lively and entertaining Salsa to Feel This Moment also scored 32! This gave them a prominent score of 64.
Last place on the leader board was awarded to Katie Derham and Anton Du Beke – Their first dance was a Charleston to Too Damn Hot, it didn’t seem to impress the judges. Their second dance was a Waltz to O Mio Babbino Caro – despite their improvement they still were at the bottom of the leader board with a score of 31 – a total of 56.
Sunday night was results night – it was time for two couples to face the dance off. Shockingly, this week we saw Anita and Gleb go against Katie and Anton.
Both couples gave it their all – both chose their second dances to try and improve. Even more shockingly we saw Anita and Gleb exit the competition. They will be missed by many viewers of Strictly as they were very popular amongst the fans.
Watch their incredible dance here; Anita and Gleb Salsa
Anita and Gleb were my favourite couple this year along with Jay and Aliona. I will miss the energy they bring to the competition as well as Gleb’s outstanding choreography – Anita Rani showed so much improvement in this competition and deserved a place in the semi – final. It is incredible how far she went without any training – she deserved it so much – I have enjoyed every dance they performed will miss them both.
