When Taylor Swift says she’s going on a break, she’s not really resting. (At least, not the way we, mere mortals, do.)
Having already accomplished a sold out stadium world tour and a studio album that has remained relevant even two years on, it has been announced that Taylor Swift will launch her own game app with Glu Mobile.
The company behind Taylor’s new app development is also the company behind other star-studded apps, including Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. The Kardashian app remains one of the company’s best performing mobile apps to date, accumulating over 22 million downloads.
However, if Taylor’s fans are worried their idol’s game app will not be all that different to the rest of the market, you need not worry! Glu Mobile’s chief executive, Niccolo de Masi, has stated, “We realize that Taylor and her global fan base expect a new and highly differentiated mobile gaming experience.
“Glu is equally committed to designing never before seen gameplay elements that utilize Taylor’s unique creativity. Accordingly, we will spend the required development time to ensure this innovation is achieved.”
The deal between Taylor and Glu Mobile will be a “multi-year partnership”, according to the company’s official statement. We’re hoping for a few more apps to come!
Previously, the pop star has released a smart phone app called Amex UNSTAGED: Taylor Swift following the success of her Blank Space single. She teamed up with Amex to create a 360° view of the accompanying music video. The game features a “rich audio soundtrack based on Taylor’s single”, a mansion full of surprises and an “immersive” experience.
The release of Taylor Swift’s new game app with Glu Mobile is said to be released later this year, with more announcements as the release approaches.
