The past five years have given us some amazing memories with One Direction. We watched them grow up as we grew up ourselves. The five hopeful teenage boys on X-Factor became four young successful men. Louis, Harry, Niall, and Liam evolved and grew stronger in more aspects than one.
One Direction’s growth as band is not only expressed in their personas, but in their music. Every song released between their first single “What Makes You Beautiful” and their latest single “History” have proven to be great works, but the change is impossible to ignore.
The lyrics of the songs on Up All Night have very little of the real “One Direction” poured into them. But Made in the A.M.? From the first track of the album to the last of the bonus tracks, this is the real One Direction: stripped, raw, and for your eyes only.
Niall was involved in the writing process of four songs(“Temporary Fix” is still on repeat) and Harry had a say in five, with “Olivia” being his “baby” according to producer Julian Bunetta. Together, Louis and Liam have much more writing credits than the other two. They donated a little extra studio time to create lyrics and music straight from the soul. Louis was the only band mate that gave a creative touch to the lyrics of the beautiful ballad “Love You Goodbye,” but the song ended up being produced by Liam. Talk about a great team. Both of the boys have helped written an impressive amount of seven songs each on the new album. Made in the A.M. is the best of One Direction yet, and we are so proud of the four boys for creating such an amazing record.
In honor of #HistoryDay, we listened to all the songs from Up All Night to Made in the A.M. We paid careful attention to the message behind every word in order to compile a list of the most soulful, and powerful, lyrics from One Direction.

The search for immortality may not have been found yet, but One Direction’s impact and music will definitely live forever.
Listening to their old music and their old songs throw us back several years, and it’s crazy to think that all that is in the past now. It’s history. Up All Night was released a crazy five years ago, and Made in the A.M is already approaching its three month anniversary. We had some good times, didn’t we?
The One Direction boys will continue their hiatus, but they didn’t leave us with nothing. We have five albums to provide us with warmth and safety in their absence – five albums to make wherever we are feel like home, even though they may not be there in person. Louis, Harry, Niall, and Liam have given us so much with their hearts and their talents and it comes to us as a huge relief that they can finally give their creative halves a break.
When the boys come back, we will get new music. We will get new songs from four boys with lines that will derive from new experiences and new emotions during their down time. Can’t wait to have new lyrics to fight over for a Twitter username!
We have made so many good memories with One Direction, and we can’t wait to make some more. We are definitely living forever.
