The lights dimmed, the curtain rose, and Broadway’s brightest stars gathered at Radio City Music Hall for the 78th Tony Awards, marking the triumphant close of the 2024-2025 season.

Hosted by the dynamic Cynthia Erivo, the evening sparkled with emotional speeches, historic wins, and unforgettable performances. From the charming robots of “Maybe Happy Ending” to the raw intensity of “Purpose,” and a reimagined “Sunset Boulevard” that stole hearts anew, this year’s ceremony celebrated the resilience and creativity of the theater world.

Among the night’s standout moments, Nicole Scherzinger’s tearful acceptance speech for her best leading actress in a musical win for “Sunset Boulevard” resonated with the crowd. “You all have made me feel like I belong, and I have come home at last,” she shared, offering encouragement to anyone who’s ever felt overlooked: “So, if there’s anyone out there who feels like they don’t belong or your time hasn’t come, don’t give up. Just keep on giving, because the world needs your love and your light now more than ever.”

The evening also honored Brendan Jacobs-Jenkins, who became only the third playwright to win Tony Awards in consecutive years, and Kara Young, the first Black performer to win back-to-back awards. With dazzling wins for shows like “Maybe Happy Ending” (leading the night with six Tony Awards) and “Buena Vista Social Club,” as well as special honors for industry legends, the night was a true celebration of theater’s enduring spirit.

With record-breaking ticket sales and a string of milestones, Broadway proved once again that the magic of live theater is here to stay.
