“The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’ Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio’s values, and we have severed our business relationship with him,” Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn said in a statement.
Gunn tweeted a thread of responses to Disney’s decision and his old tweets:

Fans around the globe have waited to see what the GOTG cast had to say about Disney’s decision. A few have tweeted their support in a couple of tweets but now, they have written an official letter together in support of their friend and director.
The cast referenced a Change.org petition which asks for Gunn to be reinstated and so far it has reached nearly 340,000 signatures.
Although, there was no official release date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the film had been getting ready to start shooting in Atlanta later this year. Gunn had been working on a script for the third film in GOTG franchise and he has previously mentioned that it would be released in 2020. Both previous films have been huge hits but Vol. 3‘s future looks very unsteady right now.
