With so many people stuck indoors due to lockdowns caused by the coronavirus pandemic, there is no better time to get started with that TV show you’ve been wanting to watch all this while. People have a lot more free time at the moment, and there are some brilliant box sets which they can watch to stay occupied during this time. Of course, there is a problem in that these are distributed across services, and even differ from country to country. For example, FRIENDS may be available on Netflix in the United States, but may be on a different service in another country. Do not worry though – streamingwars.com will help you make your choice as to which service to pick.
Here are the most popular box sets to watch during the lockdown –
The Crown
We have to start with the most expensive TV show ever made, don’t we? Netflix’s series on the life of Queen Elizabeth II and her family is meticulously made, with amazing attention to detail on the costumes and sets, but also features some brilliant actors, with the likes of Claire Foy, Matt Smith, Helena Bonham Carter and Olivia Colman making our screens come alive with their portrayal of the royal family. Even though the stories may be well known, they are still riveting, especially as one gets closer and closer to the present day.
Game of Thrones
The show that arguably changed television forever, Game of Thrones is an epic tale full of dragons, magic, war, blood, sex and violence. The show is impressive for its scale, grandeur and spectacle, but also features some tremendous acting performances, and the twists and turns will leave you glued to your screen. While the last season was largely underwhelming, the show as a whole is still captivating enough, making it a must-watch if you are one of those who has not seen it yet.
Stranger Things
Another Netflix original, this show is inspired by the 80s, and set in that time period as well. It’s a tale of the supernatural genre, with a young boy’s disappearance setting a chain of events in motion. The child actors are ridiculously good, supported by some well-known names in Winona Ryder and David Harbour, and this is definitely worth a watch if you enjoy your spooky tales,
Breaking Bad
Consistently voted as one of the best TV shows ever made, it may be almost seven years since Breaking Bad ended, but it is still one of the most popular ones to watch. Bryan Cranston puts in a career-defining performance as Walter White, the high-school teacher turned meth-manufacturer, with Aaron Paul playing his accomplice and former student Jesse Pinkman. This is a stupendously well-made show, having inspired spinoffs as well, and is well worth investing your time towards.
Parks and Recreation
A lighter note, now, and Parks and Rec certainly provides that. This is pure comedy gold, with Amy Poehler playing a mid-level bureaucrat trying to improve her town, supported by the likes of Rashida Jones, Nick Offerman, Aziz Ansari, Aubrey Plaza, and Chris Pratt. This is one of the best comedy shows ever made, and is definitely worth a watch, especially in these stressful times.
