Rising stars The Tyne turn their attention to mental health in amongst the big lights of London on latest track ‘TOO MANY LIGHTS’.
The stripped-back effort shows yet another side of the pop-punksters who debuted the track at a string of headline shows last year.
“I don’t know my place here in this city, it’s been another year and I’m still dizzy,” lead singer Ryan Lofthouse admits on the group’s latest single.
The song’s release also marks the completion of the group’s sophomore EP COMPLAINING. (BUT THERE IS MUSIC) which includes three previously released tracks.
Alongside ‘TOO MANY LIGHTS’ is the grungy ‘SEWN SHUT’, NOAHFINNCE collaboration ‘(NOT A) LOVE SONG’ and anthemic ‘LIFE’S A MESS’.
The EP comes after last year’s debut release BORN ON THE INTERNET from a band tipped for a big 12 months when named as part of CelebMix’s Ones to Watch for 2023.
Speaking about COMPLAINING. (BUT THERE IS MUSIC) the band said: “Our second EP aptly titled COMPLAINING. (BUT THERE’S MUSIC) is just that.
“We obviously love complaining because that’s all we could think of writing about. We have been working on this EP for a while with one of the songs being written well over a year ago.
“As our music grows it seems to become more guitar heavy each song we put out and I think this is shown by each track on this EP. It’s without a doubt our favourite music we’ve put out so far.
“Alongside some of our more fun and uplifting songs, we also touch more on our individual mental health issues lyrically which we haven’t written about tonnes before in previous music.“
Alongside Ryan in The Tyne are guitarist Josh James and bassist Cooper Stout. The trio will play Slam Dunk Festival in London and Leeds this summer before heading on a mammoth arena tour across the UK supporting Busted this autumn.
