The Eurovision Song Contest 2018 has crowned Netta as the winner. She represented Israel with the song “Toy”. This is the fourth time that Israel has won, they last won in 1998 with Dana International’s “Diva”.
This year has been extremely competitive with a whole range of different genres being displayed on stage. The jury voting was so close but it was the public vote that changed the entire leaderboard.
The show will be held in Israel next year since they won, but the chosen city won’t be revealed until much later on in the year. The country previously won in 1978 with Izhar Cohen & the Alphabeta’s “A-Ba-Ni-Bi”. They then won the following year, 1979, with Gali Atari & Milk and Honey’s “Hallelujah”. And, as previously mentioned, they won in 1998 with Dana International’s “Diva”.
At the end of the show, Netta took to the stage again to sing the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 winning song “Toy”.

The points system was beyond exciting as we watched the countries change positions constantly. At the top of the jury vote was Austria’s Cesár Sampson’s “Nothing But You” but he didn’t do so well with the votes from the public at home and came third overall. Israel’s Netta received the most votes from the public at home and faired pretty well in the jury vote sliding her right into first position. In second place was Cyprus’ Eleni Foureira with “Fuego”. She came second in the public vote but didn’t fair too well with the juries.

So, that’s it for another year. We’re glad to see five of our favourite contestants within the top ten of the show. According to our poll, Israel was one of your favourites too, as Netta was fifth in our poll, voted by you, the CelebMix readers.
We also have to give a shoutout to the United Kingdom’s act, SuRie, who sang “Storm”, as a stage invader spoiled her performance halfway through her song. The guy grabbed her mic. Afterwards, SuRie was told that she could perform her song a second time but chose not to.
We congratulate Israel on winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. Congratulations to Netta for winning the show with the song “Toy”. We will see you in Israel for the 2019 contest.
