Los Angeles-based indie pop-funk outfit Thumpasaurus recently unveiled their new single/music video, “Lipstick Makeup.”
Thumpasaurus explains, “‘Lipstick Makeup’ is about saying f*ck it. I’m letting my freak out tonight and getting real nice with it. It’s about being tired of all the pressures of life that make me live in anxiety and prevent me from being my authentic self. Tonight, it’s different, because I’m on my way to the dance party…”
Famous for their single, “Struttin’,” the viral hit which amassed over 30 million YouTube views, Thumpasaurus is presently on their ‘Struttin’ Across America’ tour. After a short break, the band will head overseas for their first European tour, followed by returning home to perform at prestigious music festivals.
“Lipstick Makeup” opens on upbeat indie-pop flavors tinted with funk-lite surfaces. A thumping kick drum and groovy bassline provide a contagious rhythm as shimmering washes of sound roll out overhead. Falsetto vocals juxtaposed against potent harmonies imbue the lyrics with lively timbres, giving the tune a definite feel-good mood.
“Lipstick makeup / It’s time for a shakeup / Got nothing to lose / (“on my way to the dance party”) / Cowabungaaa just want to have fun ya / I won’t wait for you.”
The video features glitzy colors and phantasmagoric images, along with heady dollops of funk motion.
Dripping with compelling layers of indie pop-funk textures, “Lipstick Makeup” delivers stylish, swanky energy and vibrant vocals.
