Not only is Tom Fletcher a chart-topping singer, a YouTube vlogging sensation, a best-selling children’s author and the most adorable father, he’s now adding movie maker to his never ending list of talents.
It has been announced today that Fletcher’s brand new novel The Christmasaurus, released 6th October, is in the process of being made into an animated musical movie.
The book follows the tale of a boy named William Trundle who meets a dinosaur called The Christmasaurus on Christmas Eve and together they head off on a magical adventure. And whilst it might be seen as a children’s novel, we don’t doubt that the writer of that ever-impressive wedding speech will have written a book that will have even the most mature of people tearing up.
The animated film adaptation will be made by Hollywood director Michael Gracey, who is currently working on The Greatest Showman On Earth with stars like Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron – who have also given The Christmasaurus their seal of approval!
Not only has Tom written all of the music for the film himself, he will also perform these new songs at this year’s Royal Variety Performance.
Tom has claimed that he didn’t originally plan to turn his work into a movie. He was inspired to write a novel by his wife Giovanna, who has released a number of novels herself.
“Making a film wasn’t the long-term goal,” he said, talking to OK Magazine. “It all became clear as I was finishing the book. It wasn’t ‘write a book and when the book is out make a film.”
But it seems that the 31-year-old won’t be adding his own voice as he says, “I’ve got quite an annoying voice so I think maybe the animators would get quite annoyed with me.”
Whether Tom adds his own voice to the movie or not, it will undoubtedly be a hit!
