Here at CelebMix, we love supporting new and unsigned talent. Today we’d like to introduce you to the wonderful Tony Wedral, who you might already be familiar with if you’re an avid YouTube fan.
Tony has spent over a year and a half posting YouTube videos and building his fanbase online. His glowing personality and fantastic humour has gained him a big following on social media and whilst some may know him for being a YouTuber, behind the scenes Tony has been working hard to practice a craft that is very important to him – music.
Having been writing songs since he was 5 years old, Tony has spent his teenage years practising and honing the type of music that he wants to make. Alongside his University studies, Tony has been learning about the music industry, getting to know people in order to prepare himself for gigging. After building up a loyal fanbase, now’s the time for Tony to showcase his original music, something which he is extremely excited about.
Today, Tony releases his first single ‘Unlocked’ which is a stunner of a debut single. The song is available as a free download on Soundcloud and is a welcome introduction to the great music Tony has to offer. There is a lovely quality to his voice and whilst lyrically the song is emotional, it’s actually got a foot tapping beat to it. Knowing the story behind the song makes the lyrics so much more poignant.
Tony describes ‘Unlocked’ as a cry for help from someone to himself and it’s written in the style of a letter to himself. The inspiration from the song came from meeting an autistic boy whilst on a bus. The boy felt at ease talking to Tony, when he usually struggles when meeting new people as they tend to look down at him. Tony gave him the confidence to feel more comfortable as he was going on a date. Tony was going through a difficult time when he met the boy but the meeting made him realise that things could be worse and that he was in fact quite fortunate.
Whilst ‘Unlocked’ is a brilliant debut, we’ve also been lucky enough to have a sneaky listen to some of Tony’s future material – trust us when we tell you that you’re in for a treat! It’s hard to categorise his music into a specific genre. The fact that Tony’s written hundreds of songs over the years means that he has created some great tracks to suit every mood.
We can’t wait to see what else Tony has to offer in 2016 – for a musical debut, he has certainly created an impact on us and we wish him all the luck as he ventures into the music industry!
