    The top 40 albums of 2016 so far have been revealed

    As we pass the halfway point in the year, we can finally take a look at the top 40 most popular albums in the UK within the first six months of the year.

    This list comes directly from the Official Charts Company and the figures were calculated compiling digital, physical and streaming sales of all albums included.

    Adele’s 25 reigns supreme, coming in at number one on the list with this album also slipping into the top 30 biggest selling albums in the UK of all time. Blackstar by the late David Bowie slips in at number two. Bowie has five different albums in the top 40, likely due to his passing in January 2016.

    Elvis and Prince have also made it into the top 20 while the likes of One Direction, Taylor Swift and Ellie Goulding come behind them with their most recent releases.

    3. Purpose — Justin Bieber
    4. A Head Full of Dreams — Coldplay
    5. Best of Bowie — David Bowie
    6. I Cry When I Laugh — Jess Glynne
    7. Lemonade — Beyonce
    8. Views — Drake
    9. Get Weird — Little Mix
    10. Chaos and the Calm — James Bay
    11. If I Can Dream — Elvie Presley
    12. This is Acting — Sia
    13. X — Ed Sheeran
    14. I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it — The 1975
    15. Nothing has Changes — David Bowie
    16. A Moon Shaped Pool — Radiohead
    17. The Very Best Of — Prince
    18. ANTI — Rihanna
    19. Communion — Years & Years
    20. Delirium — Ellie Goulding
    21. Beauty Behind The Madness — The Weeknd
    22. Made in the A.M — One Direction
    23. 1989 — Taylor Swift
    24. Nine Track Mind — Charlie Puth
    25. In the Lonely Hour — Sam Smith
    26. Death of a Bachelor — Panic! At the Disco
