Since HomeTown have graced us with their presence in the land of music, we decided to check them out and find out what they’re really about. Taking to their YouTube channel, we watched their covers.
Made up of Cian Morrin, Dayl Cronin, Josh Gray, Ryan McLoughlin, Brendan Murray and Dean Gibbons, the band have covered several songs. Their covers range from the likes of Tom Petty’s, Free Fallin‘, to One Direction’s, Drag Me Down.
After watching their covers, we can happily present our favourite six.
1. Tom Petty – Free Fallin’
Back in September 2014, the band were stripped back to the open air and an acoustic guitar to cover Tom Petty’s, Free Fallin’, with the influence of John Mayer. Out of all their covers, this is potentially one of their best. The song allows each member to show the viewer their voice and ultimately their capability.
2. Katy Perry – Roar
Roar was HomeTown’s first properly produced cover and it’s right to say their rendition has a place in every fan’s heart. Like, Free Fallin’, this cover shows off each member and their vocal capability but in more of a studio recorded way, rather than a stripped back acoustic cover.
3. Adele – Hello
Hello is one of the most recent covers the band has done. Brendan’s vocal shines through and stands out the most, being the most dominant while singing the chorus. Despite each member’s voice being different, his by far is the most distinctive. You’ve got to keep an eye out for him.
4. Justin Timberlake – Mirrors
HomeTown’s cover of Mirrors is quite underrated. It’s definitely one of our favourites, though. Josh’s vocal stands out the most for us, adding a different vibe to the song.
5. The Calling – Wherever You Will Go
HomeTown’s rendition of The Calling’s, Wherever You Will Go, is by far one of our overall favourites. It’s slow melody just pulls at our heartstrings.
6. One Direction – Drag Me Down
We all love a One Direction cover, don’t we? It’s safe to say that this song has been covered thousands of times but when the song was released HomeTown decided to give it a spin and cover it. During the summer period, the band spent a great deal of time doing 30 second covers of popular songs along with the hashtag #HT30SecondCover. After doing a 30 second cover of, Drag Me Down, and receiving a huge fan demand for a full cover, HomeTown put requests into action. We love the cover and if you love One Direction as much as we do, you will love their cover too.
Completely disregarding their vocals, the band have absolutely hilarious personalities that make it easy to differentiate them from other boybands trying to make it in the industry.
Make sure to check their YouTube channel out and follow them on Twitter to be updated on their future YouTube uploads.
