Pride month is coming along rather nicely, and this moment shows just how powerful the importance of representation and role-modeling is. A transgender fan recently thanked Troye Sivan for allowing him to come out to his father. Evan tagged the Australian artist on Twitter with the text message relaying the coming out confrontation. Check it out below!

The father showed his beautiful support and ended the conversation with a nice ending kicker:
Love you forever buddy. It’s nice to finally meet my son. Because even though I didn’t know it, you have always been and always will be my son. Off to work so go do what real men do and destroy those gender roles and paint your nails; I know I am. I went for blue today to match my tie and I’m digging it.
This is what every LGBTQ+ person should be received with if they ever have or do come out to their loved ones. While some may be shocked by the revelation, it’s important to always embrace your friends, families, etc in whatever form they may come in.
Suicide is highly considered among young LGBTQ+ teens due to after-neglect and isolation. These teens (really, people of all ages) need love, respect and a helping hand at times. This is why representation is so important. Artists like Troye Sivan have a huge platform to inspire people of all ages, sizes, etc. As an LGBTQ+ individual, Sivan has helped break boundaries by not being afraid and by allowing himself to grow in an industry (and world) that’s filled with unfortunate hatred and savages. Following in the footsteps of artists such as Adam Lambert, Elton John, Tegan & Sara, Freddie Mercury, etc, the many LGBTQ+ artists around the globe (both big and small) have slowly changed perspectives and changed the world by just being themselves.
It all sounds like an easy task, but for many young teens and adults, it’s not. Thankfully and fortunately, the cycle of hatred and misunderstanding towards these beautiful beings has slightly stopped but not fully. Nonetheless, with time, artists like Troye Sivan will remembered by this younger generation as an individual who graced and fully embraced the power of freedom and helped others achieve this freedom as well.
