Here at CelebMix, we are always trying to help our readers by suggesting new and useful applications for them! Just last month, we told you about Depop, and now we found a new app we know you’ll love just as much – Tribe.
What is Tribe?
Tribe is a video messaging application which Mashable listed under the “7 can’t-miss apps” and described it as mimicking “the function of a walkie-talkie.” Its goal is to connect people through conversation, rather than content. It has become especially popular among the younger generations, such as the college community.
How does it work?
The asynchronous messaging app allows users to send 15 second video clips and video chats in groups, without the need of a keyboard. With the press of a finger, you can record and send your messages to family and friends instantly. Check out this video showing Tribe’s features!
What else should I know about it?
Tribe is introducing Augmented Messaging to the social media world, which displays relevant information next to video messages when a specific celebrity, brand, or destination is mentioned in a recorded video. In other words, when a “Magic Word” is said, users get an instant notification, which they can then click on to access any content and services around that magic word. For example, if Drake is mentioned, his Vine, YouTube, and Spotify content are auto-populated onto the user’s screen, accessible with just one tap. It looks like this:
How do I download it?
You can download Tribe by going to the App Store or Googly Play. Then once it is downloaded, the application will ask for your number in order to send a verification code. One you verify your number, you can then set up your profile by creating a username and uploading a profile picture! You can also speed up the process by connecting with Facebook. Then add your friends and you’re good to go!
