Troye Sivan: One of Rolling Stone’s Most Sophisticated

20-year-old actor, singer, songwriter and Youtuber Troye Sivan is set to be on the cover of “Rolling Stone” Australia’s February issue.

This was announced by the magazine last Wednesday (January 6). Sivan will be featured on their annual “Hot List”, a guide for everything that stood out in pop culture, along with Sia and David Bowie.

“Rolling Stone” Australia’s Editor-In-Chief, Matt Coyte, described Sivan’s music as sophisticated and high above other pop acts.

“Sivan’s music is altogether more sophisticated than the output of many of his pop peers,” says Coyte “It’s more akin to the music of, say, Flume or Flight Facilities than Ed Sheeran or One Direction, and here lies the conundrum. How do you create a live experience that appeals to both swooning kids and discerning clubbers?”

Sivan’s first full length album, Blue Neighbourhood, debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard charts after its release back in December 2015 while grabbing the No. 6 spot on Australia’s charts.

So far, the album has 3 singles: Wild, Fools and Talk Me Down  with phenomenal music videos that feature a story that will tug at your heartstrings.

The singer also announced tour dates for the “Blue Neighbourhood” tour this year.

His first show will be in Astor, Perth on the 11th of January followed by a performance in Enmore Theatre, Sydney on the 13th.

Aside from being the lovable and amazing singer and Youtuber that he is today, Troye Sivan has also appeared and starred on a number of different films.

Back in 2009, he played as young James Howlett on “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”. He also starred as the lead role of Josh “Spud” Milton in “Spud” and it’s sequels from 2010 to 2014.

Troye considers music as his main outlet for creativity but he still doesn’t fail to make people smile with his Youtube videos.

He currently has over 3.8 million subscribers and more than 227 million total views. His youtube channel is only bound to grow as the days pass!
