Season 2 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is here and we feel like we’ve been waiting forever since Season 1 aired March 6th, 2015.
We’ve sat down completely willingly and have already binge-watched the entire 2nd season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and decided to review what we thought was utter perfection for a follow-up season! We can promise you that you will not be disappointed by Season 2, it is just as hilarious as Season 1, maybe even better!
There are spoilers ahead in this article, each episode of Season 2 has been written about and labelled so you know where you can read to if you’re only a few episodes in and you don’t want any spoilers. You have been warned!
The theme tune still has us jamming every time and it’s great to hear it once again, let’s talk Season 2 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt!
Episode 5: Kimmy Gives Up.
Episode 5 was just so funny and very musical thanks to Titus and his happiness bug!
Jacqueline sets up a charity with all the spare time that she has called The First American’s for Turtle Island while trying to keep her son, Buckley, under control. Buckley gets put on Dyziplen, a medication made to “calm hyperactive children” as Jacqueline tries to handle Buckley and parent on her own while running a charity. Both parenting and running a charity prove very difficult and are two things that Jacqueline has never done before without help. When Buckley is medicated Buckley and his mother go to a park and all the children are creepily calm, like robots, and the parents talk about the children being on the same medication. This moment really made us think about all those parents doing their very best for their children while working a job and still they don’t feel good enough. In the end Jacqueline learns how to parent Buckley by bonding with him and simply spending time that she has playing with him. She also takes the medication she gives Buckley and realises how boring it makes her life, so she decides to stop medicating him.
Dong has an interview at US immigration for his Green Card with Sonia so Kimmy helps Dong and Sonia create a wedding photo album to put Dong’s mind at ease and make their wedding look more legitimate. Kimmy has very little time left to study for her GED exam so she can graduate High School but she crammed all night and falls asleep in her exam and fails. We’ve all been in the position that Kimmy is in, but it’s ok to say no to doing something to help others when you have a lot of work to do yourself. Friends should respect your decision to put yourself first for once!

Titus is very happy after officially declaring that he and Mikey are now dating. Titus refuses to admit it, but he is incredibly happy in this relationship so carries on singing and dancing like his life is a musical.
Titus sings a lot and we’d love an Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt soundtrack, but we must admit that Peeno Noir is still our favourite song from Titus in Season 1.

Overall, each and every episode in the second season considered, we’ve been taken on a journey of discovery with the cast of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. We admit, the first season was great so we were worried they wouldn’t be able to follow, but they did spectacularly. If you haven’t seen the show you really should and if you have, watch it again! The show is full of messages that every single person can relate to about love and friendship. The messages that Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt share are important whether it is the message of self-acceptance or accepting others. The character development in the show has blown us away and the characters feel even realer despite the ridiculousness of the situations they can get themselves into.
