Season 2 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is here and we feel like we’ve been waiting forever since Season 1 aired March 6th, 2015.

We’ve sat down completely willingly and have already binge-watched the entire 2nd season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and decided to review what we thought was utter perfection for a follow-up season! We can promise you that you will not be disappointed by Season 2, it is just as hilarious as Season 1, maybe even better!

There are spoilers ahead in this article, each episode of Season 2 has been written about and labelled so you know where you can read to if you’re only a few episodes in and you don’t want any spoilers. You have been warned!

The theme tune still has us jamming every time and it’s great to hear it once again, let’s talk Season 2 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt!

Episode 6: Kimmy Drives a Car

Jacqueline chips a tooth and it makes her incredibly self-conscious which puts a huge strain on Kimmy as she tries to rush around catering to her friends’ needs. Kimmy tells Jacqueline to stop being so self-entitled and to appreciate people also calling Jacqueline a bad friend. The pair fight and fall out but secretly know they can’t cope without one another so Jacqueline employs Kimmy as her private driver until at the end of the episode they realise how petty they have been and Jacqueline see’s the error of her ways.

Titus and Kimmy find internet access and to earn an extra bit of cash to pay their rent, they sleep in the library for the evening and rent their apartment out to some hipsters on Air BnB. Lillian hates Hipsters who try to change her neighbourhood and it’s revealed why she doesn’t like change because it reminds her of her dead husband and she feels that changing the neighbourhood she lived in with her husband is taking precious memories away from her. We also discovered that Titus can’t sleep without a Barbie night-light, which makes us love him a lot more. Titus also pretends to be a hipster to scare the hipsters away to make Lillian happy again and feel like her home neighbourhood is filled with happy memories once again.

Kimmy directly says the message to this episode, and it’s a beautiful message at that: “You taught me that it’s ok to ask friends for their help, even though it might be a pain in their rear…”

Lillian’s speech also hit a very deep note reminding us that we judge people before we know their full story. Before this episode, we thought Lillian was just a little bit crazy, and we loved her anyway, we didn’t really consider all the hard times that she went through to be who she is today that possibly changed her outlook on life. We really should respect people, even if we only know a little of their story.

Our favourite quotes from the episode are:

“Wait, if I find a job in classifieds am I allowed to tell anyone?” – Kimmy.

“Someday you’ll be that crazy old cook, who doesn’t want things to change and who clings to the past…and who pee’s a little during long speeches and when that day comes, I hope it’s not too late for you to save the things you love” – Lillian.

    8.8/10 star IMDB rating.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 2 Review 6

Overall, each and every episode in the second season considered, we’ve been taken on a journey of discovery with the cast of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. We admit, the first season was great so we were worried they wouldn’t be able to follow, but they did spectacularly. If you haven’t seen the show you really should and if you have, watch it again! The show is full of messages that every single person can relate to about love and friendship. The messages that Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt share are important whether it is the message of self-acceptance or accepting others. The character development in the show has blown us away and the characters feel even realer despite the ridiculousness of the situations they can get themselves into. CelebMix absolutely recommends that you watch Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt!
