Union J appeared on ‘The X Factor’ six years ago, back in 2012, initially called ‘Triple J.’ George Shelley later joined the group, a decision made by the show, and the group was renamed to Union J. The band finished in fourth place on the show, and after being signed to Sony, they released singles such as ‘Carry You,’ ‘Loving You Is Easy,’ and more.
Their debut album was released in October 2013, followed by a headline tour around the UK and Ireland at the beginning of 2014. The band supported The Vamps on their tour around the UK and Ireland, releasing their second album at the end of 2014.
George Shelley made the decision to leave the band in 2016, to focus on a solo career. He was replaced by Casey Johnson, who was one-eighth of boy band Stereo Kicks, who appeared on ‘The X Factor’ in 2014.
After embarking on a headline tour around the UK, it seemed that new music was on the horizon, however, Casey left the band after twelve months. With Union J back to their original line-up, they are now ready to make their eagerly anticipated come-back into the music industry.
Upon the announcement of the news, fans of the band took to Twitter to express their excitement, with many saying that the four-year wait for new music was worth it.
‘Alive’ is set to be released on Friday 13 July.
