Union J auditioned for The X Factor as a three-piece named Triple J with members Jaymi Hensley, Josh Cuthbert and JJ Hamblett back in 2012.
They wowed the judges with their effortless vocal harmonies and sailed through to the next round. Then during the Bootcamp stage of the ITV singing contest it was decided by the judging panel that solo singer George Shelley would join the line-up and Union J were born.
This dynamic worked perfectly and fans fell in love with the four piece band. They wowed audiences each week and made it into fourth place.
After the X Factor they released a string of hit singles and successful albums via Syco before parting ways with Simon Cowell’s label.
Around this time it was also confirmed that George Shelley was leaving the band in order to focus on his solo career. Casey Johnson was then drafted in to replace Shelley but he shortly left without ever releasing any music as part of Union J.
However things started to look up for the group this year as they signed to a new label and released two hit singles. But once again they suffered a setback as Josh Cuthbert confirmed he was leaving.
Now, as a two piece for the first time Union J with Jaymi Hensley and JJ Hamblett will be dropping their brand new single titled ‘Paralysed’ this Friday.
They announced the exciting news today (December 10th) via social media after teasing fans last week.
