    Veteran actor Powers Boothe dies aged 68

    Powers Boothe, the actor that rose to fame playing villains, has died. He was 68.

    News of the actor’s death broke Monday morning after his friend and fellow actor, Beau Bridges, announced the news. He described Boothe as a “friend, great actor, devoted father & husband.”

    Boothe’s publicist says he died of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles on Sunday.

    The actor is best known for playing villainous characters, such as Senator Roark in Sin City. More recently, he appeared in Marvel’s Agents of Shield and Nashville, where he played Connie Britton’s father Lamar Wyatt.

    His spokesperson Karen Samfilippo has said that a private service will be held in Texas, with a memorial celebration being considered for a later date.

    She added that donations can be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation, which honors American military veterans, their families and those in need.

    The actor is survived by his wife and their two children.
