Semi-Final 1 of the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 took place on Tuesday, 14 May 2019, and what a show it was. Ten acts went through to Saturday’s Grand Final, whilst seven acts were eliminated, but before all 17 country representatives took to the stage, and even before the four hosts graced the stage, reigning Eurovision winner, Netta, appeared with an absolutely fantastic rendition of her winning song “Toy”.
This year, the Eurovision Song Contest is taking place at the Expo Tel Aviv, Tel Aviv, Israel, after their representative, Netta, won the 2018 contest with her female empowerment track. The stage has got us all shook and wishing we were there watching it live.
It was clear that Netta loved every moment about being the first person to grace that amazing stage. Not only that, we bet it felt exhilarating being unrestricted – there are many rules for contestants at the Eurovision Song Contest, one main one being that only six people may be on the stage during the performance – this is why, when the winner returns, they usually bring a whole host of people on stage with them, and that’s exactly what Netta did with a dance troupe to back her up.
She was filled with so much energy, it sure started the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 off in the most perfect way and definitely made us fall in love with “Toy” even more so. We’re excited to see her perform on the stage again, she’ll be performing at the Grand Final with her song “Nana Banana”.

Netta wasn’t the only guest performer on the night, we also saw previous Israeli winner, Dana International sing a cover of Bruno Mars’ “Just The Way You Are” which was beyond sweet and melted all our hearts.
