Canadian singer Tanika Charles’ new single ‘Soul Run‘ was released earlier this month and she has now revealed the official music video for the track.
The song was produced by Matt Reid, 2nd Son, and Slakah The Beatchild (BBE Records) who has worked with massive worldwide names including Drake.
The official music video was shot in Toronto, and sees Tanika Charles travelling across the town on the old streetcars and trams. It starts with Tanika leaving the Cut N Run barbershop-the barbershop is where Drake got his career defining phone call from Lil Wayne, which launched Drake’s rise to music stardom.
The clip ends with her travelling across town to the recording studio which is where she lets her “soul run”, basically running away from a 9-5 job and dedicating herself to her music career.
Rising star Tanika has already supported the likes of Lauryn Hill, Estelle, Haitus Kayote, Bendoiun Soundclash and Mayer Hawthorne.
Her musical sound is very similar to that of vintage Daptone soul sound, but it has a contemporary and modern feel to it.
