The 1,000,000 subscriber mark is a big moment in any YouTuber’s career. Some take years to reach the number, but Will Smith managed to achieve it in just three months since joining the platform. To celebrate the milestone, Smith vlogged his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and then uploaded the video to his YouTube channel.
During his interview with Fallon, Smith filmed from a Snorricam (strapped to his waist) so his viewers from YouTube could see the Fallon studio from a different perspective. Instead of simply watching the interview from their television screens, viewers received an exclusive behind-the-scenes look of what it’s like to be a guest on the night show.
The Fallon segment was inspired by the success of Smith’s “YouTube Stupid” vlog which shows the star going a bit overboard with cool accessories to create new content for his YouTube channel. With so many exciting vlogs already on his channel, it only seemed fitting that Smith’s video to celebrate his YouTube milestone would be his most exciting one yet.
While appearing on the show, host Jimmy Fallon also awarded Will Smith his YouTube Gold Award, which is given to creators who surpass the 1,000,000 subscriber mark.
