Eurovision fever is on. Participant countries have already started sharing their representatives for next year’s contest.
On November 9th, Netherlands too revealed its representative for the song contest. For the year 2018, Willem Bijkerk aka Waylon has been revealed as the participant for Netherlands. The announcement of Waylon’s participation was made by Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS.
But this is not the first time that the contest’s viewers have seen the singer.
Years ago, Waylon took part in Eurovision’s selections with Rachel Kramer but was eliminated before the finals. Later the singer represented his country with Ilse DeLange at Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with the single “Calm After The Storm”.
The singer initially garnered attention for his performances at Holland’s Got Talent, which led to him being signed under Universal Music. His songs including “Calm After The Storm” are quite popular in the Netherlands.
It will be interesting to see which song Waylon will come up with for the competition. Last year, OG3NE represented the country with their single “Lights and Shadows” which received quite a positive response from the audience. We expect the same for Waylon.
