San Francisco is gearing up to host another year of Comedy Central’s 3-day festival, Clusterfest. This upcoming weekend is ready to be filled with good food, music, and of course, our favorite comedians perform on the Clusterfest stages but until then, here are a few things we’re looking forward to seeing!
Amy Poehler and Friends
Actress/director Amy Poehler will be headlining Friday night with a few special guests to share the main stage. We’re not quite sure the format or style of what the set will be like but if Amy has anything to do with it, we’re sure it’ll be endlessly entertaining and the perfect way to kick-off the weekend.
In Conversation with Issa Rae
If you haven’t noticed, Issa Rae has been making moves lately. With her show hit HBO show Insecure to winning Emmys for her achievements to consistently flipping the script, we’re so excited she’ll be sitting down to have a conversation with Bashir Salahuddin & Diallo Riddle (creators/executive producers of Comedy Central’s South Side). We’ll be at the edge of our seats clinging to every word she says.
Disgraceland Podcast with Jake Brennan
This popular podcast is recording IRL. This’ll be the perfect opportunity to see one of your favorite podcasters, Jake Brennan, sit down with Fred Armisen to talk all things true crime and music. A perfect match, no?
Clueless: Live read starring Ilana Glazer, Kumail Nanjiani, & Amanda Seales
‘90s fans, unite! Relax to the voices of Ilana Glazer, Kumail Nanjiani, Amanda Seales and many more as they voice the roles of some of your favorite iconic characters. We attended one of these last year and we can confirm that live reads are a treat to check out.
Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness
Another podcast to check out IRL, YAS QUEEN! Sit down with Jonathan Van Ness as he takes his podcast on the road to explore the current climate and future of stand up comedy with a few other comedians. Yas, hunny.
Colin Jost
The weekend update host is currently taking a break from Saturday Night Live so what better way to spend some time in San Francisco? Michael Che is no stranger to the show so it’s great to see his counterpart taking his turn on the Clusterfest stage.
Up Next Showcase
The annual Up Next showcase will feature 18 up-and-coming comedians in an effort to shed light on new names in comedy. Some you may have heard of before, others you’re discovering for the first time. Highly recommended for those looking for new acts you can one day look back at and say, “I remember seeing them at Clusterfest and they were hilarious!” This year’s comedians include Chris Estrada (June 21), Christina Galston (June 22), and Max Wittert (June 22).
Clearly, we had to stop ourselves before we list out just about everything. There’ll be so much happening this weekend so remember to check back in for our recap. Until then, don’t forget to also download the app to plan out your schedule and new this year reserve your spot to Polk Comedy Club, Larkin Comedy Club, The Seinfeld Apartment, and The Office ahead of time to skip the long lines.
