Rhode Island-based singer-songwriter Will Evans drops his new single/music video, “All My Relations,” a song about Evans’ near-drowning experience while surfing off New England.
The song’s lyrics mirror encountering the ‘other side,’ wondering if he is already there as his life force is on the verge of leaving his body.
“Over the world, hope it hovers, like a lighthouse lonely song / One day we wake up in a league of lovers, and we’ll fight against our wrongs / For if we were led here and our lives were fated as if guided one by one / Shall we meet again will our souls be mated? After the burnt-out sun.”
Evan spent ten years as the frontman of the New England roots rock band Barefoot Truth. After four albums and more than 50 million streams, he set off on a solo career, releasing three long players and performing for SRO audiences across the U.S. and Europe.
His album, Rise, was nominated for three categories by the New England Music Awards: Album of the Year, Roots Act of the Year, and Video of the Year. Shortly after returning to the U.S., he recorded a full-length live album for Sugarshack Sessions and released The Summer Swell, a 3-song live EP, as well as a new summer single, “Lean In.”
A multi-instrumentalist, during his live shows, Evan displays his gift for live-looping, including the didgeridoo, hand pan drum, percussive beatboxing, acoustic guitar, and singing.
Evans has shared the stage with artists such as Crosby & Nash, Grace Potter, Bruce Hornsby, Rusted Root, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Trevor Hall, Xavier Rudd, Donavon Frankenreiter, Six60, Ryan Montbleau, Railroad Earth, and members of Dispatch.
“All My Relations” rolls out on a gleaming acoustic guitar exuding gentle, shimmering textures as the soft vocals imbue the lyrics with latent surfaces. When the song ramps up to delicious folk-rock textures, backed by sweeping orchestral tones, Evans’ vocals take on vibrant energy, infusing the lyrics with beguiling flavors.
