X Factor representatives have responded to tabloid rumours that former judge Cheryl is returning to the show for it’s upcoming 14th series.

Reports appeared online this morning (July 12th) suggesting that the ‘Fight For This Love’ singer was being persuaded by Simon Cowell to rejoin the show for the ‘judges houses’ stage of the competition.

However an X Factor spokesperson has gone on record to say that no such decisions have been made.

“No decisions have been made as yet with regards to the mentors for Judges’ Houses.”

“This report is merely very premature speculation.”

Cheryl first joined the X Factor back in 2008, where she went onto win the series with Alexandra Burke.

Cheryl returned to the judging panel, alongside Louis Walsh, Dannii Minogue and Simon Cowell, for a further two series’ before leaving the UK version of the show to join Simon on The X Factor USA.

Following a three year break, Cheryl reclaimed her seat on the judges panel in 2014 with Simon, Louis and Mel B.

Cheryl last appeared on the show in 2015.

Announcing her decision to take a step back from the world of reality tv, Cheryl said at the time “I have had such an amazing experience being a judge on The X Factor.”

“I have learnt so much and enjoyed nurturing talent but I’ve missed making music and am excited to be recording again.”

Cheryl has taken a step back from the world of showbusiness is recent years.

Earlier this year she welcomed her first child with One Direction star, Liam Payne, a little boy named Bear.
