Friday 26th of October was the evening where some of the biggest YouTubers on the planet united and held a huge livestream from the YouTube Space London. Over 70 creators from the platform took part in the 2nd YouTube fights back event in a bid to raise as much money for Cancer Research UK, spread awareness and to put the fun in fundraising.
This year Patricia Bright, Saffron Barker, Lewys Ball, Topless Baker, Amelia Dimoldenberg, Niki & Sammy, Jack Maynard, Josh Pieters, Mikey Pearce, Hannah Witton, Vikkstar and so many other of our favorite faces joined the party. In total Stand Up To Cancer raised £24 million this weekend, and the YouTube Fights Back campaign was a brilliant accomplice to this life changing total.
We watched the live stream at CelebMix as everyone knows we are massive fans of all things YouTube, and we’ve selected some of our favorite moments from the live stream.
Jack Maynard scares the living daylights out of pal Josh Pieters.
Jack Maynard is known for his love of pranking his pals. And poor Josh is the latest of Jack’s victims, however, this was all in the name of Stand up to Cancer. The camp out prank may be simple, but it had us laughing!
Vikkstar Commentates On The Super Fast Hair Challenge
If you are a fan of watching timed beauty challenges, or the videos where the beauty routines get commentaries from those who don’t understand what is going then this is a treat for you. Saffron (who we recently spoke to about SUTC here) and Niko are hair models whilst they have their own team of hair stylists getting them red carpet ready n 90 seconds. Vikkstar commentates in confusion and this bonkers challenge is viral gold!
Tom and Jay from The Wanted give Doug Armstrong advice.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gy3065xia5k
It’s been 4 years since The Wanted went on hiatus, but in the time the band where together they racked up millions of record sales, and performed on some of the worlds biggest stages, so Tom and Jay know a lot about what it takes to be in a boyband, when Doug Armstong was set the mission to be in a 90’s boy-band for SUTC YouTube Fights Back it was clear that they’d be the perfect people to get advice from!
Mikey Pearce becomes a comedian – which ends badly
Mikey Pearce is never one to shy away from a challenge, so Stand Up To Cancer HQ set him the task of performing as a stand -up comedian. When his best friends Joe Sugg and Caspar Lee get involved it obviously has to end in a prank. Watch the clip to see just how bad Mikey’s jokes can be with their help.
The reason this is all so important.
Sadly, cancer still effects 1 in 4 of us. These heart breaking stories show us that although we’ve had huge breakthroughs in treatment and prevention in recent years, we all still need to stand up to the disease.
