It’s happening folks, there is going to be a Baywatch movie, and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is definitely going to star in it. What more could one want you may ask? well… Zac Efron obviously. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the We Are Your Friends star is apparently in negotiations to star in the long overdue film, .
Seth Gordon will direct the film, which is set to be a humorous homage to the shamelessly melodramatic series that had audiences captivated throughout the 90’s, with all of its tanned, scantily clad, sexy people, it’s far fetched plans, and its… Hoff, it’s incredibly hairy and curly Hoff.
When it comes to the plot not much had been revealed, but after getting a make-over in the form of a massive re-write courtesy of Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, a few more details have been disclosed. Johnson is set to play a by-the-book veteran lifeguard ( basically a stiff) who is forced to team up with a rule breaking Efron, in an attempt to save their beach from a scheming oil tycoon whose actions could result in the beach being destroyed by an environmental disaster…duh, Duh, DUH.
A release date hasn’t been revealed as of yet, but cameras are set to be rolling in February of next year. Oh, one thing I forgot to mention… according to Johnson, Baywatch is going to be rated R, make of that what you will.
