‘Tis the season to be jolly.
Like many others, Swedish pop superstar Zara Larsson (“Lush Life”, “Symphony”, “On My Love“) is feeling the Christmas mood and is ready to give the gift of music.
Not only did she recently announce the release date for her third studio album, “VENUS“, but she also just shared two brand new songs, titled “Memory Lane” and “Winter Song”, off of her upcoming holiday EP. While “Winter Song” is a cover of the cozy Ingrid Michaelson and Sara Bareilles collaboration, “Memory Lane” is a new original record.
In “Memory Lane”, Zara Larsson reminisces about a troublesome past in the grey streets of Stockholm City. She talks about changing schools, losing touch with friends, and escaping to clubs. The song is a beautiful mid-tempo number that feels big and minimalistic at the same time, largely thanks to the captivating chorus that is filled with beautifully layered harmonies that can make you literally feel the gratitude Zara is reflecting upon in her lyrics. “Memory Lane” is a beautiful acknowledgment of life’s rocky steps and that all the “joy and the pain” serve a purpose.
