Zayn Malik is to follow in the footsteps of world-famous musicians including Dave Grohl, Dolly Parton, Christine and the Queens, Sir Elton John, Ed Sheeran and Gregory Porter, by becoming the latest star to take a seat in the iconic CBeebies Bedtime Story chair.
Premiering TODAY (Wednesday, May 22nd 2024), the ‘Love Like This’ singer will read ‘Music is in Everything’ by Jamaican reggae musician Ziggy Marley – an uplifting ode to the power and beauty of song.
From ocean waves to banging pots and pans in the kitchen, from a loved one’s laughter to the “river’s latest tune”, Marley reminds children everywhere that you don’t need an instrument to create a beautiful song.
The 48-page book, was originally back in 2022, and is illustrated by celebrated graphic designer and photographer, Ag Jatkowska.

Speaking ahead of his upcoming appearance on the show, Zayn says: “I chose this book because I love Bob Marley, and because music and reading are both important to me as a parent. I sing to my daughter at night-time when she goes to sleep and I read to her at bedtime too. I feel like this will be something really cool to show her, so I’m up for reading a CBeebies Bedtime Story!”
News of Malik’s appearance comes in the same week the former One Direction singer releases his country-inspired fourth solo album ‘Room Under the Stairs’.
Recorded in Nashville, and featuring the singles ‘What I Am’, ‘Alienated’ and ‘Stardust’, thus far the deeply personal record has received generally positive reviews from music critics, with Nick Reilly from Rolling Stone UK awarding it four stars and stating: “by mining his personal pain – and heading in a country direction – Malik proves he’s still capable of greatness”.
CBeebies Bedtime Story is on each weekday at 6.50pm on CBeebies and?BBC iPlayer, bringing families together as little ones settle down at the end of the day.
