Ziggy Marley, son of late Bob Marley, covered some of his father’s greatest hits during a recent livestream concert.
The event, available online for all to watch, was held to continue celebrating what would have been Bob Marley’s 75th birthday back in February of this year. Marley performed classic tracks during the remote gig such as “One Love” and “Get Up, Stand Up” to honor his late father.
The performance, which took place on July 19th, had a duration of around an hour. It honored social distancing guidelines and was created for fans to be able to watch safely from around the world. The musicians on stage with Marley were also wearing masks and kept their distance from each other while performing.
Ziggy Marley made sure to cover both well-known tracks and lesser known fan-favorites such as “Coming in From The Cold.” The show was recorded at a studio in Los Angeles which also allowed Marley to take part in an online question & answer session with fans.
This virtual experience is one of many that fans have been a part of in lieu of in-person concerts. While large social gatherings are not safe right now, Marley’s livestream continues to prove that celebrating icons and the music that they create is still possible. Fans from all around the world have been able to connect and come together for these virtual performances.
The Marley family continues to celebrate Bob and his legacy. This online performance was only a part of the long and well-deserved continuous celebration. Other examples of honoring Bob Marley this year include a Sirius XM station dedicated to his music and new music videos for some of his most popular tracks.
