Kicking Sunrise is a band of musicians and songwriters from Washington Township, New Jersey consisting of Joe Murphy, Ryan Hornibrook, Matt Bosco, and Mark Altamuro.
After a successful post on YouTube in 2013, the band was officially formed. They took advantage of the opportunities available and signed to Right Coast Music where they created their debut album Here’s to the Sunrise, which was released in 2015.
Less than one year later, Kicking Sunrise became the house band of CBS3 Philadelphia and their single “Here’s to the Sunrise” is now the theme song of their morning show, CBS3 Mornings!

With all the success of their first single, we’re happy to premiere Kicking Sunrise’s next big hit, “Sky High”! Listening to the track, you sense a classic “feel good funk” sound according to Matt. And we agree! With lyrics like, “Look at me now / I’m finally breathing / More than I have ever been“ and “ Sky High loving everyday / I can’t help this feeling / I can’t hide it no more,” you can’t help but dance and gain some confidence all at the same time.
“”Sky High” gives you that self-confidence when you’re doubting yourself. This song was written to remind you that it’s okay to accept who you are and allows you to recognize the obstacles that makes you a stronger individual today,” says Joe. Mark then added saying, “It’s a fun song to rock out to with a lot of exciting and upbeat elements.”
Wanna see Kicking Sunrise live? If you live in or near Philadelphia, you’re in luck! The band will be playing at Bourbon and Branch in Philadelphia tonight! According to Ryan, this song will bring their live shows to a “whole new level,” so you don’t wanna miss out on this!
