Sabrina Carpenter has unveiled the music video for her latest single ‘Why’, and you just might recognise her on-screen love interest!
The singer enlisted the help of Casey Cott, Riverdale’s Kevin Keller, to play her boyfriend in the visual. Not only do they make the sweetest looking couple, but Casey’s character delivers quite possibly the cutest speech in history.
‘Why’ discusses how opposites attract, and during a date in a diner, Sabrina quizzes Casey on his favourite horror film. Whilst Sabrina loves The Shining, it turns out Casey isn’t all that keen on horrors. Sabrina is jokingly horrified but Casey’s character brings the notion of ‘opposites attract’ to life. Comparing the couple to salt and pepper, he states that “at first glance it might not look like we go together, but everybody knows that we belong together.” We’re all heart-eyes right now!
The rest of the visual focuses on Sabrina and Casey as we witness the differences in their characters, whilst we also see Sabrina channeling her inner photographer.

Taking to Twitter earlier today, Sabrina revealed that “many films” inspired the visual, so it was shot “very cinematically”. She also revealed that the best part of filming was being able to poke Casey in the eyes with chopsticks when they got to eat Chinese food during the last shot.
‘Why’ is the latest single from Sabrina, which was co-written with Leland. The track follows on from her recent offerings, solo single ‘Thumbs’, and her Mike Perry/The Vamps collaboration ‘Hands’.
You can currently catch Sabrina on ‘The Detour’, with support from Alex Aiono and New Hope Club.
‘Why’ is available to download and stream now.
