Over the years, Liam Payne has become more than just a member of One Direction. He’s inspired countless individuals around the world with his story, his talent, and his heart. August 29th marks Payno’s birthday and what better way to celebrate than by counting down his 10 best vocal moments?
10. “You and I” – BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend
Truthfully, all five boys delivered an incredible performance of this soft rock ballad. Payne wowed the audience with his flawlessly smooth vocals.
9. “Best Song Ever” – OTRA Santa Clara
We’ll be honest and admit that we’ve tried and failed to hit the high note at the end of “Best Song Ever” a few times too many. That doesn’t seem to be a problem for Payno! He absolutely smashed it at the Santa Clara leg of the On the Road Again tour.
8. “Summer Love” – TMH Denver
First off, we have to let you know that “Summer Love” is immensely underrated. Seriously, go listen to it! During a stop on the Take Me Home tour, Liam puts his entire heart into this amazing solo.
7. “Through the Dark” – OTRA MetLife
In the studio version of this song, the track ends simply, on a single note. Liam decided to go down another route and took that single note and turned it into an impressive run.
6. “Night Changes” – Coca Cola FM Studio
Liam proves his talent yet again, with this perfectly placed note change.
5. “You and I” – OTRA Vancouver
“You and I” appears on our list yet again as Liam shows off his remarkable vocal range and flows into this high note effortlessly.
4. “Love You Goodbye” Ellen

In one of our favorites off Made in the A.M. Liam’s solo opens this moving power ballad.
3. “Night Changes” – Four Hangout
Liam turns background vocals into a display of his polished voice. This solo absolutely radiates the doo-wop vibe.
2. “End of the Day” – The London Sessions
The way the melody moves during the verses is a perfect match for Liam’s strong vocals.
1. “FourFiveSeconds” – BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge
We were over the moon when we heard that One Direction would be performing “FourFiveSeconds.” This song is already brilliant to begin with and pairs perfectly with the lad’s vocals. Liam opens the song wonderfully with a solo oozing with emotion and talent.
From the very start, it was clear that Liam was an incredibly talented vocalist. Through adversity and rejection on the X Factor, he refined his craft and returned only to wow the judges. We’ve had the pleasure of watching him grow as an individual, as a member of One Direction, and as a musician. Liam has yet to fail at impressing us, and we don’t see that happening in the foreseeable future. So to the incredibly talented Liam Payne, we wish an even more incredible birthday!
