Chicago-based artist and producer aboywithabag, aka Sai Aditya, releases his latest single, “Club Chennai,” via DIM MAK.
Talking about the track, aboywithabag shares, “With ‘Club Chennai,” I set out to create a club track that combines the essence of old-school Bollywood with modern house music. It started with an iconic sample of one of my favorite Bollywood Classics ever ‘Muqabala’ and I built the track to let the sample shine; the record quickly became a crowd favorite at my shows around the world in 2022. I’m so glad it found a home at DIM MAK and excited for everyone to hear it.”
Born in India and raised in Southern India and the south side of Chicago, aboywithabag first grabbed attention with his unofficial remixes of CID and Westend’s “Jumpin’” and “Turn Back Time” by Diplo & Sonny Fodera, with support on Diplo’s Revolution on Sirius XM and Night Service Only Radio by CID.
In 2021, aboywithabag made his label debut with Steve Aoki’s DIM MAK, releasing “Summertime in New York,” which was included on Dim Mak Presents New Noise, Vol. 19.
Citing influences such as Chris Lake, Prok & Fitch, and A.R. Rahman, aboywithabag’s sound blends South Asian elements with the swanky energy of house and techno music.
In addition, he runs the show at House Techno Authority, highlighting great talent and curated releases from other artists on the label.
“Club Chennai” rolls out on crisp percussion topped by a compelling female voice, and then flows into a syncopated rhythm dripping with tasty, pushing dynamics. Swirling, kaleidoscopic leitmotifs glide, swoosh, and shimmer as the plush, evocative vocals imbue the tune with alluring tones.
Merging a variety of harmonic savors, “Club Chennai” sizzles with dazzling, fluid momentum, displaying the freshness of aboywithabag.
