It’s always daunting when you cover an iconic song in front of a room full of people, including the original artist themselves. However, if you can trust one person to bring the house down then it’s Mr Adam Lambert.
Adam recently performed a tribute to music legend Cher at the 41st annual Kennedy Center Honors. He delivered a stunning stripped-back version of her 1998 global smash ‘Believe’, which proved to be a huge hit with the audience and Cher herself.
Putting his own spin on the song, Adam transformed the dance-pop classic into a powerful ballad, fully showcasing his sensational vocals. The rousing performance moved Cher to tears, whilst she also led a well deserved standing ovation for the singer.
Taking to Twitter following the performance, Cher said: “Tried 2 write Feelings About Adam Lambert Singing Believe In Words, but Cant seem 2. When Your senses are Overwhelmed All Can you feel with your [heart]”
Adam responded saying that it was a “total honor”, also calling Cher a “goddess”.
The performance has since gone viral, and if you’ve yet to see it then you can witness the magic for yourself here.
