Last night (February 29), Adele kicked off her world tour in Belfast’s SSE Arena. The sold out tour, which is one of the most hotly anticipated tours this year, is Adele’s first since 2011, and she chose to kick start the 100+ dates by helping a fan with a very special leap year proposal.
It is tradition that women can propose to men on a Leap Year, which is exactly what a fan called Hayley wanted to do. It turns out that Hayley had proposed to her boyfriend Neil earlier in the day, to which he replied ‘maybe’. Adele invited Hayley onto the stage to pop the question again.
After the crowd began to boo Neil’s ‘maybe’ reply, Adele said ‘You have to say yes, Oh my God they’re turning.’ Adele then got the 11,000 crowd to chant ‘Come on Neil!’, to which he eventually replied ‘yes’. Adele also invited herself to the wedding – imagine how amazing it would be having her as a guest at your wedding?!

Adele’s Belfast tour date was the first of over 100 shows across Europe and North America, which will come to an end later this year.
During the show, she shared her tour fears in a way that only Adele can.
“I woke up sounding like Arnie,” she told the crowd. “My voice was so deep because I slept with the air con on my hotel room. My kid was being a nightmare, and then there was a spillage at Gatwick and I thought my boyfriend wasn’t gonna get here – I thought the whole tour was doomed. I’ve been s***ting myself – I had severe bowel movements. But I’ve had an Imodium.”
