Remember the six teaser trailers that were released for the upcoming season of American Horror Story? (If you haven’t seen them, check them out here.) Well, it turns out they aren’t as important as we all thought!
Turns out that director Ryan Murphy and FX have been playing with us this whole time! It has been revealed that only one of the six teasers actually has any sort of relation to season 6.
During the Television Critics Association press tour on Tuesday, John Landgraf (FX CEO) admitted that five of the teasers are “misdirects”. “We just thought it would be really fun to keep it a mystery this year, and we are.” Landgraf told.
To keep fans confused and off balanced, FX created several misleading trailers. “They’re really fun and funny and artfully made. One is accurate and the rest are misdirects. So we’re just having fun with it.”
He then added: “The scripts come in and they’ve got my name emblazoned across them. Only one script comes in to the company. Everything is blacked out that might give away plot points.”
Like previous seasons, the new season of ‘American Horror Story’ will have a unique setting and theme, but it will remain a secret until the premiere. “We just thought that would be a nice change after doing things one way for five years.” John said.
