Critically acclaimed newcomer, Alec Benjamin has released his brand new single ‘Jesus in LA’ with accompanying visuals.
Following on from his previously released material, Alec shows no sign of slowing down in his rise to stardom as ‘Jesus In LA’ is yet another emotive, well-crafted easy listen.
The new track encapsulates a reflective account of Alec’s younger years, where he chased his dreams and relocated to LA only to be hit with a harsh awakening of reality, in a laid-back acoustic earworm.
Benjamin’s unique vocals shine through the minimal backing whilst he showcases his innate songwriting ability making real-life stories into chart worthy hits.
So far this year, Alec Benjamin has already seen success with his emotive collaboration ‘Let You Down Slowly’ Featuring Alessia Cara, which has now amassed 750 Million globe streams and has also received support from fellow industry hit-makers Billie Eilish, Bryson Tiller and more.
Alec simultaneously dropped the video for the track where he can be seen reminiscing on his time in LA with an obvious disappointment and clouded memory. overall the video is simplistic yet enticing, oozing a creative melancholic energy.
Speaking on the new track Alec Benjamin explains:
“When I first got to LA I thought that I was going to finally find the happiness that I had always been looking for. Not long after I arrived, I signed my first record deal. Got dropped. Lost friends. Spent all my money… and had to move back in with my parents.”
Alec Benjamin reveals. “It was then that I realised the thing that I was looking for most was in front of me the whole time. My true friends and family. Even at my lowest point, being back home with my family is what made me truly happy. The song isn’t a literal take on religion or about Jesus at all. It’s about searching for hope and happiness and realising those things aren’t always where you think you’ll find them.”
Alec Benjamin is set to visit the UK in November and has just added a brand new show due to popular demand. After selling out O2’s Shepherd Bush Empire, he’s now added a second London date at the Electric Ballroom on November 27th.
