Pop-rock artist, actor, model, podcast host, and shero Demi Ramos releases her new single, “Just a Phase,” featuring rising alternative/emo artist GARZI.
Speaking about “Just a Phase,” Ramos says, “The tune was made in an hour during a spontaneous jam in LA and the sounds were inspired by the 2000s. I remember listening to a lot of Blink 182, Weezer, Bloc Party, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs during that trip.”
A Puerto Rican New York City native, Ramos started her first rock band at the age of eleven, followed by studying opera at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, one of the most prestigious performing arts high schools in the U.S. Since then, she’s become a tour de force in NYC’s underground scene, going from performing sold-out DIY and basement shows to filling rooms at Berlin, Mercury Lounge, SOB’s, Webster Hall, and Brooklyn Bazaar.
Along with releasing catchy music, Ramos is a sought-after model, signed to Elite Model Management, and, if that’s not enough, a recognized podcast host on Popdust’s ‘It’s Real with Jordan and Demi’ and ‘The Demi Ramos Show,’ where she’s interviewed celebrities such as Stephen Sanchez, GAYLE, Sueco, Joss Stone, Art Alexakis of Everclear, Guy Fieri, Surf Curse, Dylan Fraser, GG Magree, and Royal & the Serpent.
The video, directed by Emmy Award-winning actress Victoria Konefal, was shot on a Kodak vlog camera, and depicts a torrent of partying in the City of Angels, including LA hotspots like The Echo, Power House Bar, Shake Shack, and Colette Miller’s ‘Angel Wings’ mural in the Arts District.
“Just a Phase” opens on delicious retro-flavored guitars riding a bewitching rhythm. Gleaming leitmotifs imbue the tune with sassy energy as Ramos’ wickedly alluring voice infuses the lyrics with lush tones. On the chorus, the voices of Ramos and GARZI converge into a sumptuous sonic concoction.
“I have never felt this before / California’s taking a toll / Summer days are making me bored / It’s just a phase / It’s just a phase.”
Dripping with irresistible harmonics and the swanky vocals of Demi Ramos and GARZI, “Just a Phase” delivers infectious vibes.
