There’s no denying that The Greatest Showman has become a global phenomenon. Not only was the film a box office smash, but its infectious, anthemic and feel-good soundtrack captured the hearts of music lovers worldwide. In the UK alone, the soundtrack spent 21 weeks at the top of the Official Albums Chart.
Due to the success of the much loved film and soundtrack, back in October it was revealed that a reimagined version of the album would be released, with some of our favourite stars sharing their versions of the movie’s sensational songs.
In the run up to the album’s release, we’ve been treated to amazing takes of ‘A Million Dreams’, ‘The Greatest Show’ and ‘Never Enough’ from P!nk and her daughter Willow, Panic! At The Disco, and Kelly Clarkson respectively. All three versions have been nothing short of mindblowing and left us wanting more.
On Friday (November 16), The Greatest Showman – Reimagined was unveiled to the world and alongside it came a music video for Anne-Marie and James Arthur’s beautiful version of ‘Rewrite The Stars’. Both Anne-Marie and James have been killing the game individually with their own material, so for them to join forces to duet on this stunning cover is a dream come true.
Vocally, ‘Rewrite The Stars’ suits Anne-Marie and James’ dulcet tones perfectly, with their voices also complementing each other in a dreamy manner. The cover stays true to the original for the most part, although both artists add in a few ad-libs to make it their own.
The accompanying video takes inspiration from the movie, as it is set in a circus. Whilst there are no Zendaya/Zac Efron trapeze moments, Anne-Marie and James bring pure emotion to the song whilst surrounded by contemporary dancers.
Between the impeccable vocals and the striking visual, Anne-Marie and James’ version of ‘Rewrite The Stars’ is simply magical. Check it out below.
Anne-Marie and James’ version of ‘Rewrite The Stars’ features on the newly released The Greatest Showman – Reimagined album. Other contributors include Sara Bareilles, Craig David, Pentatonix, Jess Glynne, Years & Years, Kesha, MAX, and Ty Dolla $ign.
