Arkells have teamed up with tour buddy Frank Turner for a reworked version of Hand Me Downs, the track is taken from their recent album Rally Cry. The European run of their headline tour kicked off last night in Cologne, with the UK leg kicking off next week.
Earlier this year the band headed on a month-long run across the UK with Frank Turner in the midst of recording Rally Cry. Frontman Max Kerman reflects on the tour “Every night we got to watch Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls create these collective moments of unity with the crowds. These sing-a-longs at these shows are kind of stunning – so much joy, so much heart.” From watching Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls perform live to Frank being in the studio with them when he visited Toronto in September. Speaking about the new version of the track released today “I love this version of the tune. His sense of work ethic and commitment to the craft has been a guiding light for me.”. The result of the collaboration sees Max and Frank sharing lead vocal duties whilst giving an insight into the process of recording this new version of the track. We loved the original album version of this track and the sing-along chorus is still one of our favourites we’ve heard all year.
Arkells fifth studio album Rally Cry was released last month, we enjoyed the release so much that we did a track by track review of the release if you need an excuse to check it out! We’ll be heading down to the London date of the tour to see the bands impressive live show described as being their ‘most ambitious set of shows yet’. Tickets for their UK tour can be purchased from here.
