Here at CelebMix, we love introducing you to new bands and styles of music and Arkells are our latest ‘must listen to’ band. Earlier this week their video for latest single People’s Champ there’s something refreshingly optimistic about the track and video. Let us explain more…
The Canadian pop-rock outfit released People’s Champ as the first single from their fifth album which is set to be released later this year. Frontman Max Kerman explains “There’s a pulse to the song we wanted to capture. We wanted to see images of different kinds of people coming to life through music and the company of their friends and surroundings.”.
Based on the current social climate and the lack of real leadership which lead to you finding people’s champs in the most unlikely of places when their leader isn’t one. The upbeat, funky track which is packed to the rafters with horns makes an important issue also a great track to listen and dance along to. If you’ve managed to sit still whilst listening to this track, hats off to you!
Arkells worked with director and creative Matt Barnes to bring the track to life visually. Their upcoming, unannounced studio album was written and recorded in Toronto and produced/mixed by Eric Ratz and Mark Needham. The band have just finished up supporting Frank Turner across the UK on his month-long tour.
Be sure to keep an eye on CelebMix for more Arkells news and when you can catch them back on UK shores!
