Who is Duncan Laurence?
Duncan de Moor, aka Duncan Laurence is a Dutch singer-songwriter who was chosen by Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS to represent the Netherlands at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, Israel with his song “Arcade”.
Despite growing up in a town where music had no part in the regular school system, Duncan knew since he was very young that he wanted to be a musician. He started his musical career at the Rock Academy in Tilburg, playing in several school bands, including The Slick & Suited, which was formed with some of his fellow students, and they were part of a world-famous music festival Eurosonic Noorderslag in 2015.
Duncan has also tried his luck as a solo singer, participating in the fifth season of The Voice of Holland under the coaching of Ilse DeLange in 2014. He was eliminated from the semi-final. What’s more? He and Jihad Rahmouni wrote the song “Closer”, which featured on the album “New Chapter #1: The Chance of Love“. of a K-pop duo TVXQ in 2018, and landed on the top of South Korean charts.
